20 Dec Winter Break Wishes for Working Parents!
A Creative Way to Cover Winter Break
Even though your social media feed might be filled with euphoric looking photos of family vacation paradise, many working parents can’t take off work during winter break and are scrambling for months looking for ways to keep their kids occupied and supervised at the end of December. Lucky for us Chicago offers lots of solutions including Wishcraft, an adorable workshop on Damen in the Northcenter neighborhood which you can’t miss with its signature blue doorway and colorful eye-catching decor.
Started by a fellow mom, designer, and entrepreneur extraordinaire, Candice Blansett-Cummins, Wishcraft Workshop began in 2008 with a mission to cultivate confident artists, curious citizens, and kind thinkers through adventurous and innovative programs. She saw that the community needed more options for busy families who want to make the most of their time when school isn’t in session.
When you walk inside the entire room is filled with inspiration, books arranged by color, idea jars, and signs that say “excuse the mess, children are making memories.” Project samples on display include self-portrait dioramas, painted ceramics, but sometimes an entire workshop can be dedicated to discovering the fun in physics.
With a large workspace on the main floor and another larger workspace on the lower level, the Wishcraft Workshop is a great space for creative birthday parties, and you barely need to bring more than balloons to make every inch feel like fun.
