New Year, New You!

New Year, New You!

A New You In the New Year

January is a terrific time to rebrand yourself, update your look, and think about the face you are putting on your brand. Getting a new head shot is a terrific way to get all of that done. So here are a few tips when getting ready for your close-up, whether you are working one on one with a photographer or preparing for your company’s annual head shot session

Though it's called a "Head Shot" you should always dress from head to toe. You'll feel more put together and you just might get more options to choose from.
Try on your clothing options before your shoot. Be sure your selections are clean, pressed, and fit you well. Taking a selfie can help confirm how everything works before the big day. And don't be afraid to bring options, there's always a place to change.
Let the photographer know where these photos are being used before your session. It'll be a very different session if it's an image for your firm's site vs an actor's head shot.
Consider your occupation and area of expertise, then choose the right location. For someone in commercial real estate this backdrop speaks volumes.
If you wear glasses and want them off in the shoot try to leave them off for as long as possible before your turn. That way the marks on your nose have time to fade before the shutter clicks. Then feel free to take some spectacled shots as well.
Remember to just be yourself. Have a good time, and don't be afraid to let your personality shine through. After all, your head shot is your first chance to make a great impression.
