Fall In Love… With Your Social Media Marketing

Fall In Love… With Your Social Media Marketing

There’s no denying that social media is not only a widely accepted form of advertising and marketing, but a highly effective one as well.  Your target audience may filter out your mass emails, hit delete before opening, or not even see them as they end up in the spam filter.  But chances are they are on one form or another of social media almost every day.  Capitalize on that by making the most of your social media channels.

Plan out your calendar quarterly. Be sure your posts are resonating with your audience by choosing moments when they are tuning in.  Most don’t care about #nationalscavengerhuntday, but after a weekend of post Thanksgiving shopping #givingtuesday has become a great way to reach potential donors through Facebook (see, it does have it’s benefits).

Know your favorite platforms and play to their strengths.  Now you can post a landscape style image (horizontal) on Instagram, but when people are scrolling they only see the square crop unless they decide to click on your image.  Posting a tantalizing shot of dripping chocolate around 3pm could propel even the most disciplined nutritionist to suddenly crave that sweet goodness.

Give your channel a personality! If you want a larger audience you need a strong voice and sense of identity.  Who is doing the posting?  How old are they?  What’s their gender?  What do they love, what do they hate?  Don’t be afraid to get quirky and have fun.  Let your own sense of humor shine through and you’ll be less of a brand and more of a friend.

Hire a professional photographer!  Your audience is drowning in a sea of imagery daily. Many spend their time scrolling through channels at a rapid pace looking for that one image or headline that resonates.  Your imagery needs to stand out from the pack, evoke emotion, and entice your audience to click and read more.  Plus, one day of working with a professional can net an entire quarter of posts shot and ready for the interwebs saving you and your client time and money.
